Denver Running Tips

  • Altitude Adjustment: New to Denver? Expect your easy pace to feel like a tempo for the first 1-2 weeks. Slow down, hydrate more, and be patient — you'll adapt.
  • UV is No Joke: At 5,280ft you're getting significantly more UV radiation. Wear SPF 50+ on any run over 30 minutes, even on cloudy days.
  • Afternoon Storms: Summer thunderstorms roll in fast between 2-5pm. Start early, and if you see dark clouds over the mountains, head back.
  • Trail Access: You're 30 minutes from serious mountain trails. Red Rocks, Mount Falcon, and Waterton Canyon are worth the drive for weekend long runs.
